There is a genre of Youtube videos called "unmasking" videos where an individual slowly takes off a mask in front of the camera. In general, the most popular of these videos are ones where multiple layers of masks are taken off, and the "real face" underneath is never seen.
In this video, we investigate the unmasking gesture to see how it might be interpreted as a particular strategy for avoiding objectification of the face on the internet.
