This is a sixteen minute video which shows a lot of the building and car damage that occured in 20 seconds in 1994 during the very violent Northridge Earthquake. You can find more information and pictures online at Wikipedia and other sites. There also will be other YouTube videos. The scenes in this video are very clear. They show roof damage, wall damage, damage to cars parked under apartment buildings, especially the stucco, two and three story apartment buildings. Someday a big earthquake will occur in Los Angeles County again. San Francisco and the Pacific Northwest and the Coast of California and Mexico are all located near or over a fault. Some faults release their energy a little at a time each year and no big quakes occur. Other areas hold everything in place for 100 or more years and much longer, until it all breaks loose with a big jolt. Notice the damaged windows and the window frame area where cracks occur in stucco buildings where the wood frame is torn loose.
