Director Andrea Dorfman first reached out to queer spoken word poet Tanya Davis to make a video poem, which is now being made into a book. Over six million YouTube views later, Dorfman decided to go to the next level and make Heartbeat, a film about a queer singer-songwriter. In the above interview, both women discuss their journey to making this film. Heartbeat, which screened at TIFF in September 2014, will open in Toronto on November 28 at Bell TIFF Lightbox with screenings in other Canadian markets to follow.
