The only official score of Eleanor Rigby is published in Revolver for piano, voice and guitar; although the arrangement by George Martin uses a pair of string quartets (the string section without vocals is included on the Anthology 2 compilation album). This score is based upon the MIDI sequence by Norma "Williams" Carman which is widely available online. To achieve the correct timing and harmony I used the Time Stretch facility in Sound Forge to run the recording at half speed, although there may still be errors. The main difference in my score is in measures 53-57 where I do not use pizzicato, which is present on the MIDI sequence (at measures 45-49 as it omits measures 45-52 from the original recording).

I have used LA Scoring Strings for the samples, although I find that staccato and legato passages cannot be adequately expressed by the same voice, so I have cloned each track in Cakewalk Sonar and separated them into staccato and legato sections.

This score for strings is included in http://guitarscores.20m.com along with the piano version from Revolver - if you don't have Sibelius it can also be played and printed with free Sibelius Scorch. I have also included a MIDI file (mid) and a Cakewalk Project file (cwp).

Finally my sincere thanks to Norma "Williams" Carman for the MIDI sequence, without which I would never have attempted this.
