http://www.unfoundation.org/what-we-d... In Malawi, where nearly half of all girls are married by age 18 and less than a quarter finish elementary school, adolescent girls face extreme challenges. This video tells the story of Kumbukani, who, despite immense challenges, returned to school and now empowers her peers as a peer educator in a UN Joint Program in Malawi with UNESCO, UNFPA, UNICEF, and WHO. This program helps to empower the most marginalized adolescent girls through basic education, scholarships, girl-friendly health services and information, math and science camps, and protection from gender-based violence. Over three years, the program will have a direct impact on 30,000 girls and provide indirect support to more than 550,000.
