NEW YORK — Things at the Draft Biden super PAC just got really real after fundraiser Josh Alcorn was overheard yelling into his phone in the cafe car on an Amtrak train from New York to Wilmington that he was “100 percent that Joe is in the race.”
It seems Alcorn was so loud in the cafe car it was making it hard to work, so the passengers just decided to eavesdrop instead. Looks like Alcorn was less certain of when Biden would officially drop the bomb, but he guessed it would be mid-October.
Alcorn was also overheard saying test ads were doing well in converting Hillary Clinton supporters to Biden supporters, and money had been lined up to come in right before the announcement. Apparently Jim Torrey, an Obama bundler, was interested in joining the cause.
Alcorn was less confident about New Hampshire, but the plan was to come in second in Iowa, finish respectably in New Hampshire and then win Nevada and South Carolina.
Looks like the Democratic race is about to get a lot more interesting. And with Hillary and her email troubles and Bernie and his $18 trillion plans, who knows, maybe Biden actually has a chance.
