Award-winning filmmaker and 2007 Sacramento State grad Ryan Coogler sat with one of his mentors, film studies professor Roberto Pomo, for a question-and-answer session following a recent screening of his debut feature film, "Fruitvale Station," at Sacramento's Century Stadium 14 theaters. Coogler wrote and directed the film, which tells the story of Oscar Grant, a young, unarmed black man who was fatally shot by a BART police officer on Jan. 1, 2009. "Fruitvale Station" won awards at both the Sundance and Cannes film festivals and is getting plenty of buzz as a possible Academy Award nominee.
