Development on SPECTAC started back in 2004. Set in the "Chaser", before the colonization of Mars, the story uncovers the events leading to the purging of the terrorist group known as "The Direction" who had been threatening to use bio weaponry against the population.
The core game was set around stealth action like climbing, creeping and swimming. The player was able to use a detailed set of deception tactics, take advantage of surrounding noise to get up close to an enemy or even attract them into the shadows for a quiet kill.
One of the strongest aspects of SPECTAC's visual presentation was environmental interaction. All interactions were visualized using a first person hand animation. Every movement the player was required to make e.g. code typing, ID card use or even using a computer keyboard and mouse was executed with detailed animations. This approach was further emphased in the combat system which featured a complex variety of different hand to hand blows performed either with hands or weapons. The enemies could be stunned, ambushed, chocked or even drowned.
Unfortunately SPECTAC never made it into full production.
