April 18th, 2009
Theme: "Mortified"

This Special Event StorySlam at the Parkway Central Library was presented in partnership with the Free Library of Philadelphia for the Free Library Festival. It pitted five storytellers from Philadelphia against five storytellers from Chicago, representing the Windy City Story Slam http://www.windycitystoryslam.com/

The individual winner of this slam was Max Glaessner of Chicago and the cumulative score went to Team Philadelphia!

First Person Arts is a Philadelphia-based non-profit dedicated to memoir and documentary art in a variety of forms. Our monthly StorySlams are competitive storytelling events. Volunteers are invited to tell a five-minute true story related to each monthly theme and they're scored by volunteer judges in the crowd. New StorySlams happen every 4th Tuesday at L'Etage Cabaret (6th and Bainbridge, Philadelphia, PA)

Go to http://www.firstpersonarts.org for information about the storyslams and our other monthly programs, our annual competition, and the world's only Festival of Memoir and Documentary Art every November.
