President Obama returned to his adopted hometown of Chicago yesterday for three fundraisers. The first of these of was at the University of Illinois-Chicago. While Occupy protesters chanted "End the wars, tax the rich," Obama's 26-vehicle motorcade passed by. The president conducted no government business on this tax-payer funded campaign trip.
Besides the 26 cars in Obama's motorcade, about a dozen snowplows blocked access to Halsted Street west of the Forum.
With me on Roosevelt Road were about 50 people, half of them protesters, the rest were curiosity seekers and Obama fans.
A block west on Halsted, about a dozen snowplows blocked that street. If you include those trucks, Obama's taxpayer-funded motorcade included 38 vehicles.
