Facility rehabilitated by IUCN. Delay Action Dam- Badeni Village Kund Malir. still work is continue on site. The pond is source of drinking water and for other household uses. Kund Malir is facing severe fresh water scarcity due to low rainfall in the coastal area. There are wells about 30-32 feet deep in the watershed area of Kund Malir where community collect water for drinking and other house use. If rains are not received for longer times these wells become saline and water quality become so poor for drinking. IUCN intervention would have positive impact and storage will recharge the underground water. The stored water will also provide privilege to the community for utilizing the fresh rain water over considerable time of months. The pond has 8 feet storage in deep areas and 3 feet in shallower areas. Community is very happy to see the facility working in Kund Malir. The elders thanked to IUCN and told that this will prove to be a major intervention for the people of Kund Malir. Similar interventions was expected by community also in future because of fresh water scarcity and unavailability of other basic facilities (Potable water, Electricity, Natural Gas, Education, Health, Fish landing Jetty, processing & storage facilities), in Kund Malir and adjacent areas.
