Charted at #28 on Billboard Hot 100 in July 1957. Although this was his only Billboard charting single, Dave became more famous as a comedian under the name "Brother Dave Gardner". According to Billboard, this is the original version of the song. It also charted at #7 for Don Rondo on Billboard Hot 100 in July 1957 (which I've also posted). Even more charting versions of this song: #18 for Owen Bradley in July 1957, #9 for Bill Black's Combo in March 1960 (#1 R&B, #50 UK) and #5 for Sonny James on the Country chart in 1972.
