Mahalo travel expert Asha K. shares a few quick tips to help you make the most of your carriage ride through Central Park in New York City, New York.

If you're looking for the ultimate romantic date, or even just a fun family trip, a horse-drawn carriage ride through Central Park in New York City is a great option. Sit back and  enjoy the view from a new angle as you experience the enchantment of the park.

Find Your Carriage

There are usually horse-drawn carriages lined up on the corner of 5th Avenue and 59th Street. You can walk up to an available carriage to find your ride.

What to Expect

A standard cab ride through the park costs $50. This does not include the tip for the driver.
Standard rides last for 20 minutes and include a trip through Central Park. You will see the Wollman Ice Skating Rink, the carrousel and the Central Park Zoo among other attractions.

Most carriages seat up to four people. If you have small children they are allowed to sit on your lap.

Carriage rides run all year round. However, the winter months in New York City can get very cold so it's a good idea to wear layers or bring a blanket for the ride.

Special Rides

If you have a particular route or special destinations in mind, you can set up a carriage ride ahead of time. Pre-arranged rides can last longer and take you to more locations in the park. Be prepared to pay extra for a pre-arranged ride.
