Steve and Chris wanted to find out what you get for your money when buying an entry level E-Bike, so they put two hub drive bikes and a mid drive EMTB through a series of challenges to see how they fared against Coed-Y-Brenin and the Forest of Dean trail centres⚡️
If you’re thinking about buying your first E-Bike you have a couple of motor options available at the entry level price point. The first is a hub drive motor, more basic but also more budget friendly. The other option is the mid drive motor that is seen on higher end electric mountain bikes, offering more advanced gearing, torque sensors, and more centralised weight distribution for better performance when the going gets technical.
