Batty Moss (Ribblehead) viaduct is a really iconic landmark surrounded by the three peaks, Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough (which can all be seen in the video) and the weather was perfect today. I have wanted to film a steam special crossing the viaduct for a while and was fortunate to catch the Fellsman pulled by LMS Class 5MT 4-6-0 no 45231 'The Sherwood Forester' today. The music is rather different to my usual choice, but I have used it because of the lyrics. It is from a 1971 album called "Songs of the broad acres" by Mike Donald - A Skipton folk singer who sadly died young - and is called "Settle to Carlisle railway" and it hints at a fair bit of the history of the line's construction in the 1870s.
