Prime Minister Raila Odinga is cautioning against tribal politics, saying that the emphasis in both campaigning and the 2012 elections should be on national unity. In the last few days, some political leaders have endorsed possible candidates based on ethnicity. Minister John Michuki's endorsement of Uhuru Kenyatta as the chosen Kikuyu leader evoked quick reactions from various political leaders including Gichugu MP Martha Karua. Metropolitan Development Minister Njeru Githae gave a new twist to his previous reactions while at a cleaning exercise in Ngong saying that Michuki only nominated Uhuru as the community's spokesperson which he says does not necessarily mean that he has been endorsed as their 2012 presidential candidate.
