Lucy's POV

"That is why you are my best friend, Lucy" Cameron smiles and says as we walk through the mall and I comment on how awesome a Pokemon character toy looks.
I look back over at him and he is still smiling. He has an amazing smile and then he turns and flashes me those forest green eyes. My heart stops at the moment.
"What are you looking at me that way for? Cameron asks as I blush and turn away.
"No reason." As two girls walk by and smile at Cameron he smiles back. Then when they pass he turns enough to watch them walk away.
"Didn't your daddy ever teach you not to stare?" I ask when he turns back around with an even bigger perverted smile on his face.
"I never listened to my daddy." He was joking of course. I have known Cameron, and his family since I was 5 and now we are 17. We have been friends since the first day of kindergarten when Cameron stole my Play Dow and I kissed him to get it back.
We walked a little more then decided to eat. One thing I've learnt being around Cameron and our friends, Zach, Nathan and Mikey are men can eat a lot!
We stopped to eat in a pizza parlor, the best in the mall really.
"So how is the band going?" I ask after we set down with our pizza. Cameron is in a band called Allstar with our friends Zach Porter, Nathan Darmody and Michael Martinez.
"Good. Jess came to practice today. Wish you could have come too." Jess Roberts being my other best friend. She is the only person who can keep me sane with all these boys around. She is also dating Michael, the drummer.
"That's good. You know I would have been there..."
"But Brett wanted to hang out, I know." Cameron finishes my sentence with a mouth full of food.
"I've been to a hundred of your practices. Missing one wont kill you." he looked at me with a disappointed look and continued with his food. This is what he wants is for me to feel bad but it wont work. After I start eating again and say nothing he give me he sad, puppy-dog eyes and I of course give. One thing I haven't learnt over my life with Cameron is how to stand up to him for a long time.
"I'm sorry. I'll drop Brett and come to your next practice." He smiled because he got what he wanted.

"You want to stay over? It's Saturday and we can stay up watching horror movies..." I ask as Cameron is pulling us out of the mall parking lot.
"I can't tonight."
"Why? You have nothing else to do... or you didn't tell me if you did." Cameron and I tell each other everything so when he doesn't tell me it hurts, a lot.
"I'm, uh, spending time with Kris."
"Kristina? Your little sister that you come to my house to avoid?" I know he can tell that I can tell he is lying but he sticks to his story.
"Yeah, I'll talk to you tomorrow. I'll stay over then." I step out of the car and he pulls away quickly. It's mid July and we're in California so it's 90 degrees and it 10:00 at night.
"Hi, dear. I thought you said Cameron was staying over tonight?" My mom says as I walk in and put down my purse on the table next to the door.
"I thought he would but he didn't want to..."
"That's a first. You two hate leaving each other's sides most of the time." she has a point.
"I know. He is acting distant lately and it's worrying me. Mom I'm going to bed." I kiss her cheek and head for my room up-stairs. I grab a book and curl up in my large chair with my lamp on behide me and the rest of the room dark. I have always liked the dark and I'm not sure why.
My room is huge with a queen size bed on one side, a large lounge chairs with a lamp and side table, a 24-inch TV on the wall and a door to my own bathroom. Its pretty much a master suit for one person. The light from my lamp gleams off the dark purple walls and on the glass door of the balcony.
I can't stay focused on my book for thinking about Cameron. What if he is on drugs or something? No, I doubt that. Cameron has always had a good head on his shoulders and always-made smart chooses.
After another hour of trying to read and not seceding I head to bed, at 11 o'clock, on a Saturday is the middle of summer, something I wouldn't normally do.
