"See You in September", recorded by the Paterson, New Jersey pop vocal group The Happenings, peaked at #3 in the U.S. in 1966. The group is noted for bringing new life to old standards. Their version is a remake of the original song by The Tempos in 1959. The Happening's version exceeded one million copies in sales and earned them a gold record award. They had nine Billboard Hot 100 Singles hits from 1967 to 1968. Covers and remakes of the song by other recording artists continued for several years afterwards. Although overshadowed by the Happenings' remake, the Tempos' original of "See You in September" gained considerable currency in 1973 because of its inclusion on the American Graffiti movie soundtrack.
