This film describes the process and creation of two Jewish Faith Quilts titled Gevurah (Strength, Power) and Chesed (Loving Kindness) from concept meetings to final installation at Temple Beth Zion (TBZ) in Brookline, Massachusetts.
The Faith Quilts Project was created by the artist and quilt-maker
Clara Wainwright in order to foster greater understanding between fifty different
faiths in the Boston area through the creation of fabric collaged quilts.
As the Art Director of The Faith Quilts Project at TBZ, I organized and directed
thirty volunteers aged 8 to 92 over a two-year period in the creation of these massive quilts sized 14 feet high by 7 feet wide. From concept to installation in the main sanctuary at TBZ, these Faith Quilts represented artistic fabric collage interpretations of meaningful spiritual Jewish events and holidays for the congregation to contemplate during religious services.

In addition, the Art of the Spirit , the book, with forty pages of full color reproductions of every facet of each quilt with experiential anecdotes by the participants, designed and produced by Beverly Sky is available from TBZ.
