New hot cylinder I recorded last night. Opens with the general verse and chorus played in the style of Ladd's Black Aces' version from the early 20s for Gennett. This is followed by a clarinet solo in the low register with muted cornet lines intertwined. This was supposed to mimmic the style of Freddie Keppard and Jimmie Noone's duets for Dock Cook's band, I'll let you be the judge of that. This part is followed by a short but hot trombone solo and then a hot piano break (which was extremely difficult to get on wax, but it worked!). Finally the last part of the main theme plays and song ends quite well. Overall I like this cylinder a lot. The cornet part was just right, trombone could have been a tad louder and the clarinet was perfect. Piano was pretty good and the drum part gets better as the song progresses (cymbal crashes could have been louder). All in all a good song. Enjoy!
