"First Friday" is a monthly brown-bag research seminar and webinar for faculty and students, featuring guest speakers on timely topics of interest. This session focuses on the British National Health Service (N.H.S.) and quality programs lead by Ms. Judith Hunter, MBE, with clinical practice and administrative methodologies that provide data for improving quality. Judith Hunter highlights the organization of health care nationally and in quality activities in the North of England. In 1991 she was the youngest person to be elected to the position of national Chair for the Royal College of Nursing, an elected position comparable to president of the ANA. This enabled her to develop political skills working at the highest level representing UK nurses in the lobbying of Parliament to ensure the voice of nursing was heard.
