Steve Mackey wrote his new quartet, One Red Rose, for the Brentano Quartet. It is written to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the assassination of JFK and was jointly commissioned by Carnegie Hall, the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, and the Yellow Barn Music Festival. The world premiere will be in Carnegie Hall on February 12, 2013, with performances at Yellow Barn and at the Nasher Museum in November, 2013 to mark the occasion of 50 years since the event.
