Civilians who carry guns around their children have often been labeled as dangerous and unsafe. We are accused of not caring for the welfare of our children and the potential dangers of being armed around them. Conversely, photos of police officers and military personnel are sent through emails and put on websites as displays of protection, compassion and care.
What difference does a uniform make? Why is it acceptable for a person in uniform to have a firearm around a child vs a concerned, loving, responsible and well trained adult?
