The Democratic National Convention was totally star-studded, but they weren't there to promote a movie or talk about their personal lives—they were all there with a very important message.
Actress Scarlett Johansson, who we all know and love from The Avengers, Lost in Translation, and so many other great films, took the stage in North Carolina, urging viewers to do just 1 simple thing: VOTE!
Wearing a chic, fitted blazer and an American Flag across her chest, the 27 year old kept her speech on the shorter side.
She welcomed the audience and spoke a bit about growing up in a home with modest earnings.
Specifically, she lived in a lower-middle class income housing development, and depended on government programs to get to school and eat lunch.
She also pointed out that many of her closest girlfriends still rely on Planned Parenthood and Medicaid for health services.
What seemed to peeve Scarlett the most, is the fact that less than half of all eligible voters between the ages of 18 and 24 voted in 2008—she asked, "Young America, why are we only speaking with half our voice when so many issues at stake here directly affect us?"
But instead of rallying the audience to vote in support of Obama or any candidate for that matter, all Scarlett seems to really want, is for everyone to get out and VOTE!
She made it no secret that she will be voting to reelect President Obama in November, but all she wants from you, is a commitment to vote.
So did you guys think it was cool that Scarlett took the "go vote" approach as opposed to "Vote for Obama" approach?
