Alex Hoyau : "It's a production tool, which allows graphical designers to produce interactive content. It's designer's friendly. Designers are used to drag and drop. The learning curve is really short." Who can learn Silex ? (0:21) It's more for web designers, or graphic designers or webmasters. How fast can you learn Silex ? (0:32) You can be trained in half a day up to 2 days, from 4 up to 15 hours. It depends how far you want to go. It's like Photoshop. The learning curve is really short. It's an industrial production tool. It's based on drag and drop. You end up with plugins and a templating system. It's a real workflow for webdesigners and developpers to work together better than what they used to do before silex. When did it start ? It started eight years ago : we needed some tool to publish content. For video, there wasn't any such tool. The graphical team was able to do beautiful things, but unfortunately, we were not able to put it online. Now, it's natural, it's great because it's cheaper and you don't need to be a programmer in order to produce content. What's so great about HbbTV 1:08 It's great because it's natural and it's HbbTV can reach people who are not connected to the Internet. There is really no tool (but ours) to produce such content. Each time, you start from scratch and the cost is not easy to determine. You're never sure of the quality of the end product.(...) So designers use it, they have some parameters to set and with drag and drop and intuitive interface, they can build very interactive content. You can just focus on very small pieces of the drawing, but you can start also from far and see the architecture. So it's : as you want, you take it and . . . you make it your own! 1:59 The french national broadcaster chose Silex for production ? They are about to go for that. It's a guarantee that they will be able to have a tool for their team to produce interactive content whithout having a lot of developpers and a real workflow.
