Union Square Station 9/11 Names in the Subway JIMMY WEBB "If These Walls Could Speak" 9/9/12

Thousands of people a day walk by this wall and probably don't even notice. I did for the first time yesterday.

Jimmy Webb's beautiful and timeless song seemed so perfect when I photographed this moving tribute to the victims of September 11.

It reminds me of the anonymous, spontaneous tributes which sprang up all over the city from fire houses to the tiles on Greenwich Street and 7th Avenue, across the street from where St Vincent's Hospital where I stood in line to give blood the morning of 9/11.
