Thanks to our partner, the Society of St. Andrew (SoSA), this opportunity was presented to the Florida Association of Food Banks. After the County of Sarasota purchasing a citrus grove so they could develop the land in the future, they wanted to put the still producing grove to good use. Working with SoSA volunteers and out-of-season harvesters and packers FAFB recovered more than 38 semi loads of fresh Florida citrus to feed our neighbors in need. Thanks to The Mosaic Company Foundation, The Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services and The Florida Legislature for funding to support this project.
