In this Documentary Photography Review video podcast, Iranian photographer Farhad Berahman shares the stories behind the images in his The Crab of Sanctions project.
In The Crab of Sanctions Farhad documents the impacts of sanctions on the people of Iran - focusing in particular on the medical impacts -- the lack of medicines and treatment available for civilians as a consequence of the sanctions.
The project pays particular attention to the vulnerable children suffering from cancer, who now have limited access to the treatments they need to survive; the sanctions not only limit medicines but also the importation of advanced medical technologies, vital for diagnosis.
