The UK has finally given the go-ahead for the building of its first foreign-funded nuclear power plant. The Hinkley Point project will cost about 23.4 billion US dollars. The project was delayed over concerns about giving China such a large stake in the power plant, despite the fact that France will have an even larger investment in it. Critics also say the plant's output will be much more expensive for British consumers than in other countries. Zhao Tong from the Carnegie–Tsinghua Center for Global Policy, Professor Simon Hogg from the UK's University of Durham and Yu Jie from the think tank LSE Ideas discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the proposed joint-funded Hinkley Point nuclear power plant.
