George Murakami shares the unlikely story of how he came to live in Utah for most of his life, despite being relocated against his will to the Topaz Interment Camp as a teenager from Berkeley during World War II. Set in Millard County's unforgiving desert terrain, his high school years were unusual (the camp had a track team!) and harsh, yet after the war George would eventually forge his own path in the Utah suburbs, this time on his own terms.
