In 2012, the Department of Pesticide Regulation honored Marin County with an IPM Innovator Award. Marin County's strong commitment to reduce pesticide use was launched in 1983 with the adoption of an integrated pest management (IPM) policy. That action was followed in 1998 with an IPM ordinance establishing an IPM Commission and IPM coordinator and a requirement that all county departments comply with IPM standards. The result was a 90 percent reduction in pesticide use on county-owned, managed or leased property in the last 10 years. This video provides a brief overview of their IPM programs. ATCO Pest Control-a 2009 Innovator Award winner-is also featured in the video. IPM Innovator Awards information: http://1.usa.gov/QBNtvI
