Aujourd'hui, 5 janvier 2011, un grand de la musique Malienne Zani Diabaté, le fameus guitariste, chef d'orchestre et co-fondateur du Super Djata Band a décédé à Paris, après d'un attaque cérébral en Decembre.

Thursday, December 9th, 2010, in Paris, Zani Diabaté had a stroke and slipped into a coma. He died Wednesday, January 5th, 2011.

This track was recorded during the early hours of March 15th, 1999, room 226, Van de Valk Hotel, De Bilt, Netherlands.

After a performance with a ballet in Utrecht, Daouda (Flani) Sangaré and Zani Diabaté (guitar) played for about an hour while the minidisc was recording. These were the last two songs that night.

The pictures were taken five days later in Amsterdam.

The second song, Gon Magnin, is generally attributed to Toumani Koné, whose version can be heard at 8:25. The title means: Monkey is no good. A warning against monkeys, because to hunters, monkeys are a bother: they warn potential prey and are known to steal prey once shot. This cassette can be downloaded here:
