Energy storage and distribution animation linking renewable energy to local grid and emergency power users. By storing renewable energy power as it's generated, and distributing it when in demand, AREVA's electricity storage and distribution solutions help manage energy generation, supply, and demand issues.
Hydrogen and fuel cells are among the best demand-and-supply solutions for managing energy. AREVA's process works by using renewable energy to power alkaline electrolyzers to break apart water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen, which are then stored.
This stored energy can be tapped by reversing the process via a fuel cell and generating electricity. Stored hydrogen can produce electricity anywhere at any time, without being connected to a power grid. Used alone or in hybrid systems, the fuel cells guarantee continuity of electricity supply for critical facilities, such as hospitals and communciation centers.
