John and Phyllis bought a timeshare in Florida and were told not to worry about insurance, that the resort would take care of it. Then they were hit with a $5400 special assessment fee because of Hurricane Katrina. When John called to dispute the fee, believing that his monthly maintenance fees would take care of it, he was told that they didn't have enough insurance on the timeshare. It was at this point the John and Phyllis decided to get rid of their timeshare
