DEFUSING GLASS: Google's Critical Mission

Glass, Google's computer/camera eyewear readying to launch, has already become an unusually extreme flashpoint between technology enthusiasts and critics. This is ironic, as such wearable technology is inevitable, a clear next-stop on the path from computer mainframe to mini to desktop to laptop to mobile. And Google has already demonstrated its engineering acumen in early prototypes.

This presentation focuses on a different concern, critical to understanding the Glass controversy: how misinformation propagates between Google and the press, something proven particularly volatile around cameras. A recent example is described where both Google and the press didn't do their homework and made inaccurate public statements, further polarizing sides at a critically embryonic moment, unnecessarily.
