http://ArthurBrooks.AEI.org Arthur Brooks, author of the new book "The Road to Freedom," takes on the top myths about free enterprise. Part 1: "The moral core of free enterprise is greed." The moral core of free enterprise is not greed. The moral core of free enterprise is earned success. Earned success is the belief that you've created value with your life and you're creating value in the lives of other people. And it doesn't have anything to do with money. Money is just a measure of earned success for some people. For others it's helping kids, it's saving souls, it's cleaning up the environment; It's anything that people really, really want that they feel is valuable. You define it. But you have to be able to match your skills with your passions. You have to have a system that sets you free. Earned success requires that our skills and our passions meet. It requires that government not control our economic lives. It requires that we be free people and that's the essence, that's the moral core of the free enterprise system.
