When Goshen High School graduating senior Bryce Bender stepped up to the stage on Sunday, the last thing he expected to see was his older brother Brock waiting for him on the other side.
Decked out in his dress blues, Brock Bender, 25, a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps stepped forward as Bryce rushed past the line of faculty to hug the brother he hadn’t seen for two years. The surprise was orchestrated by Brock and his mother Ann Bender after the Marine’s leave was approved in December. Cpl. Bender is currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan. “I’m just happy, I didn’t expect that,” Bryce said. “I think I missed a couple of handshakes.”
