The pilot site Ruse is the fifth largest city of Bulgaria. Here, two buildings are part of the BECA project. The buildings are owned by the municipality`s company ‘Zhilfond’ and have a total surface of 8,269 m² with 120 dwellings. The buildings have been built in 1999 and 2001. Within the BECA project, 75 dwellings, ranging in size from 46 m² to 100 m², will be equipped with the BECA services, expecting these households to reach overall energy saving of 20%. BECA services will be offered to 165 tenants, including people from all ages with a medium and high education level, mostly Bulgarian and generally with access to the Internet at home.
