During that horribly bland time in the late 70's and 80's when over-produced, corporate, image-conscious drivel led video to kill the radio star, Mark Knopfler's sincere, concise, and biting guitar sound cut through the crap and gave me a break from having to punch all of the presets on my car radio searching for anything else but what the playlist required the stations to play. Real musicians touch your soul with music from their own souls. They don't feel the need to be flashy for flash's sake. Mark is a lot like that other guy sharing the stage with him on this night. No need to dance in the end zone, we can already see (and hear!) that you've scored.

He is lost, during guitar playing, in the esoteric realms of creation where soul takes over mind and body vanishes away...
