It is not uncommon to get shoe buckles from the Colonial period. We have handled dozens over the years but when I see a set with a "makers mark" I get excited. This set was a rare occasion in which the maker was a famous silversmith in Williamsburg, Va. A great story to learn from, hope you enjoy.
