There's something so different about theme songs from the 60's.  Almost more innocent sounding.  When we were still innocent.  Probably doesn't make sense.  But I think you may know what I'm talking about

If you love, this, then go to "Mannequin Melody" by Clive Richardson, which I'm listening to right now as I write. CHEERS FOR THE SEASON!!!

That Girl's theme song was instrumental only for the first four seasons (1966-1970). Lyrics were added to the theme for the fifth and final season only (1970-1971). I adore the instrumental version, one of the greatest theme songs ever. And the lyrics have stayed with me after all these years even though they were only featured for one season. I don't recall ever watching the show when it was first broadcast (maybe the last couple of seasons when I was older) but I watched the reruns on ABC daytime all the time during the mid '70s.

don't forget The Andy Griffith Show and his famous jazz piece "Harlem Nocturne"
I absolutely agree. The instrumental versions of the theme songs were among the best, then and now. The great Earle Hagen composed the music for That Girl, and also for The Mod Squad, Make Room For Daddy, The Dick Van Dyke show, and others. What a marvelous collection of sound he was able to portray in just a few minutes. Kudos to Mr. Hagen.
When I was deeply depressed, I binged watched this show for a whole 3 days without doing ANYTHING else. This show will forever have a special place in my young heart.❤
I LOVED the instrumental version, from (1966-1970)  it was BEAUTIFUL.

I always loved this theme song. By comparison the theme songs of today are just fucking stupid.

Great instrumental theme music. The words suck, though.

It's amazing. That Girl is among several short instrumental themes that are so highly creative and arranged that they're unforgettable. They're like light classical music in that sense.

Totally agree. Flying Nun is another great theme in this same genre. Some fool defended Family Guy. It is a sucky dicky show that shows how degenerate TV series have become. Anyone who defends this type of show is also a loathsome scum.

Good clean humor and great music

We only saw these in reruns, since my father (and me) were partial to Ironside! Nonetheless, still a good show!
Can truthfully say we never watched That Girl. In its premiere season, it was opposite Star Trek and we watched that. The subsequent seasons, it was against Ironside, which we preferred. Not a bad show, we just liked other offerings better.
