"Monsters" captures an accurate portrayal of office life.
No... That's too cynical.
"Monsters" is a dystopian portrayal of the future pulling from a number of sources,
some obvious and some obscure.

Director Dominic Luongo breaks down the creative vision behind Monsters:

"We borrow from Terry Gilliam's Brazil, 1984, Office Space, Night of the Living Dead (and I specify Night for a reason), but mostly I based the idea of Monsters on the
Ray Bradbury short story, There Will Come Soft Rains.

The basic vision behind MONSTERS is dystopian, a crapsack world view of the
future and assembly line office work, that is until one day when Dukez shakes
shit up.

The main subtext of the video is the endless struggle between comfort and risk.
It's one of those difficult to answer questions, where there is never a "right answer".

Rob Adams represents our character who is comfortable, despite his dilapidated
surroundings. He would rather work in a sh*tty office for the rest of his life, secure
in his work and future, rather than rock the boat.

Mad Dukez represents our character who is willing to take the risk for something
better. He wants something better for himself, and for his co-workers. That's also
what the song is about. Dukez wants something better for our culture, rather than
being satiated by the status quo."

Monsters was shot on location at the National Historic Site, Pierce Arrow Factory Complex in north Buffalo. The Pierce Arrow was a revolutionary factory that set the stage for nearly all future factory designs in the country. Much of the location has been preserved and re-purposed, but unfortunately a lot of it - like the area Monsters was shot in - is earmarked to be demolished in favor of parking lots.
