John Carter is a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). John Carter is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the creator of Tarzan, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.

John Carter of Mars will be out in UK cinemas in March 2012.

Very disappointed that in a lot of publications this film has been unfairly labeled a flop. This story was amazing and ending still gives me goosebumps. Awesome movie.
A brilliant family adventure film... Don't believe the critics hype!

I desperately want a sequal to this movie, so I'm buying the dvd or bluray! Who's with me? Please make the trilogy!

Wonderful movie, great stories make great movies. Disney completely blew it in the marketing department. Briliant visuals, flawless CGI from pixar roots.
I know marketing was bad but I cannot thank them enough for the pleasant surprise I got when I watched it. Most movies are spoiled by showing the best bits during the trailer which winds me right up.

Performed by Peter Gabriel perhaps but the original version is by Arcade Fire.
Best film for years. Much better than Avatar and even Flash Gordon (though the original is the best - the old 1930s version with the actor Charles Middleton as Ming the Merciless is impossible to beat)...
