Induced hydraulic fracturing or what’s more commonly known as fracking,; injects water, sand and chemicals into the ground to break up shale rock formations and release fossil fuel known as shale oil or gas. Some of the chemicals stay in the ground and contaminate water aquifers with chemicals that have been known to cause cancer. This high pressure process itself can cause earthquakes. The Fracktivists are a group of protectors, have come together to voice the health risk of shale gas extraction in the UK. They are bonded by their love and respect of our ecological system. Each individual captured in an altered state of consciousness, as a metaphor for the fragility of what lies below the surface.
