This jazz saxophone lesson in improvisation from http://www.beginningsax.com/Jazz%20Im... is part of the Soloing on Tunes series by Randy Hunter. The chord changes from the standard, Softly As in a Morning Sunrise, are used as a basis for developing melodic solo phrases. The lesson explores the use of the minor pentatonic scale, blues scale, harmonic minor scale, arpeggios, and more, along with a new phrasing technique I refer to as "Topic Phrasing." The lesson includes a play-along track by some of Atlanta's top jazz rhythm section players. Transpositions of all exercises and examples are included for tenor sax, alto sax, and concert pitch instruments.
