-- About this Competition --

The theme of this competition is to craft a 1-2 minute video conveying a mega-engineering project. Entries are judged on the creativity of the project and its presentation, on the anticipated breadth of the project's public appeal and interest, and the effectiveness of describing a mega-engineering project and its impact.

Drones have a very mixed reputation - very bad on the military front, and exceedingly popular in the commercial and entertainment sector. As an insect flight researcher I know how much potential they have to become life-changing devices beyond these military and entertainment purposes due to the research being carried out right now.

Flying animals are remarkable, and they can do plenty that our currently engineered vehicles can’t – but by harnessing their ability we can make significant engineering advances. I would love to see a world come true where robotic drones can help us monitor and look after our world, as well as help those in need.
