"...very funny... smart staging [by director Barbara Oliver] of Margret Schaefer's crisply phrased new translation..."Anatol" is a very entertaining party"
- Robert Hurwitt, San Francisco Chronicle
By Arthur Schnitzler
World Premiere translation by Margret Schaefer
Directed by Barbara Oliver
Playing April 6 - May 13, 2012
A gadabout living for pleasure in late 19th-century Vienna, Anatol practices the arts of seduction, adultery, infidelity, and betrayal, encountering a series of mistresses in his search for the perfect faithful lover. Paradoxically, it is the women in his life who gain the upper hand. Directed by Founding Artistic Director Barbara Oliver, this World Premiere translation, commissioned by Aurora Theatre Company from renowned Schnitzler expert Margret Schaefer, features interrelated episodes in the love-obsessed life of this bourgeois Viennese Casanova.
