Hey guys!! It's been heavily requested that I film a video talking about my thoughts on sponsorship for awhile now. There's been a lot of discussion this past week in the media about people in social media 'living fake lives' and 'not being real' and promoting products just because they were paid to. Usually I don't address things like this, but even people in my real life were sending over these articles to me as if it applied to me / other creators. I wanted to film a video sharing how I use social media, what it means to me, and what I think about sponsorship. Are there good and bad sides to it? Sure. But it's not social media that is the problem. Social media is just the platform. It's all about the person and how they choose to use it. I personally choose to use my social media to creatively express myself: my love for art, photography, videography etc. as well as to connect with people. I've shared my life with you guys for the past 5 years- all of my moves, my break up story, moments with my family. All of that is real and 100% me. There are people who are living very real and genuine lives on social media and I hope this video reminds you of that!

As far as sponsorship goes.. there are also both good and bad uses of sponsorship, but that does not mean sponsorship at it's base line is bad. Genuine sponsorship enables a creator to produce better content and provides new groundbreaking opportunities that previously weren't possible.
Are there creators who are endorsing products they don't love? Probably. Are there creators who aren't being transparent about their sponsorships? Yes. That's why when you see a creator being honest about their sponsorship and really owning the fact that they stand behind it, you should respect that!

In the end, social media is all what you make of it. Thankfully we can choose who we follow and many of those people ARE living real authentic lives and fighting to keep their content true to themselves! Would love to hear what you guys think about everything. Let me know if you liked this open and honest video by giving the video a thumbs up / leaving me your thoughts in the comments!
