CHAPTER NINE

Jaws dropped in unison, Hazel went bright red when she saw Leif gagging, she knew what he was thinking. She didn't blame him.
"That's fantastic Bella." Denise said, starting to speak Italian. She got that habit from her grandfather. Everytime she got excited Denise would begin to speak Italian.
"Grazie." Julianna replied. Since their kids had become friends Julianna had learned a fair bit of Italian thanks to Denise.
"I'm due in seven months, and Denise. I was hoping you and Paul could be godparents?"
"L'OH Amerei a! Quello sarebbe cosi stupefacente. Grazie, grazie, grazie."
"Speak English?" Joe suggested noting Leifs and Juliannas confused faces. Hazel knew exactly what was said, and she owed it all to Nick, Kevin and Joe.
"Sorry, I said I'd love to. That would be so amaizing. Thankyou."
Julianna nodded.
"Ti amo madre." Hazel said hugging her mother tightly. Julianna looked around confused.
"How does she speak Italian?"
"We taught her." Joe said gesturing towards himself and his brothers.
"How do you guys know Italian?" Leif asked. Everyone looked at him.
"Uh. Our mother?" Joe suggested. Leif nodded turning bright red and the Jonas boys rolled their eyes.
"Nicholas, Poso soddisfare il colliquio a voi nella stanza dell'ospite per un momento? E' importante. Non dica loro dove siamo Denise andante. È un segreto!" Hazel said and Denise nodded.
(ENGLISH: "Nicholas, Can I please speak to you in the guest room for a moment. It's important. Don't tell them where we're going Denise, it's a secret.")
Nicholas followed Hazel to the guest room. "Alright, what did you want to talk about?" He asked as they closed the door behind them.
"Well, I was kind of hoping you and me could hang out tomorrow. Before you say no, I mean just you and me. No boyfriends, no brothers, no sisters, no friends, just you and me."
"Okay. It's a deal." She heard someone on the other side of the door. 'Italian' she mouthed silently and nick agreed.
For a while they spoke in Italian about Leif, and the house Hazel was moving into the following day.
"We can speak english now." Hazel said. She was finding it difficult to keep speaking Italian.
"So, anyway, How'd you meet Leif?" Nick asked, he'd been wanting to do so for some time. He almost added something like "At the loser drop off station?" But considering he actually valued his friendship with Hazel he just smiled.
"Well, it's a long story." Hazel said turning slightly pink.
"And I have an abundance of time."
"Well, I was at Aarons school dance-"
"Rewind." Nick cut her off "Did you seriously just tell me you went to your future step brothers school dance?"
"Yes. I did, so what? We're also friends." Hazel replied frustrated. "Anyways, he introduced me to Leif, they were friends at the time- Aaron hates him now. Not the point. We got to talking-"
"You didn't use us as a conversation starter?"
"No, how dumb would that sound "Hi my name is Hazel. My best friend is Nicholas Jonas!" I think that would be a little special."
"Yeah, that's true. So what'd you talk about?" Nick hated that he was so curious about their relationship. Hazel had already told him once that they couldn't be more than friends but that didn't stop him from hoping.
"Well," Hazel began. She knew she couldn't say to much. "We spoke about this and that, How it's just him and his mother and how I have like a zoo going on in my life, and how Aaron is such a cool guy..."
"So. No Jonas."
"You came up..." Hazel started. This is where she had to be careful. "He was saying that there were too many teens in the media and it was stupid because that made everyone else feel inferior because their dream jobs didn't really hire until you were about to be burried."
"Oh.." Nick said. He had a feeling he knew what was coming.
"I asked him who was the worst example of all of the teen-take over."
"Oh..." Yep. He definitely knew.
"He told me that the Jonas Brothers were a pathetic excuse for musicians and that curly top kid was a talentless loser, the only reason Disney kept them around is because they're "cute" as my cousins call them."
"So, what'd you do?"
"I dumped my punch over his head and walked away. He called me a crazy fan for about a month until Aaron gave him a fat lip and told him to back off my boyfriend."
"Your boyfriend?"
