A crew with Pieper Excavating, from Wever, Iowa, arrived in Carver Feb. 17 to remove the giant log jam at the Minnesota River railroad bridge. "The Duck" has large tracks that roll over the machine's two floats. Following some repairs on Thursday, the crew went to work Friday, picking up and scattering logs, so waters will carry them away when the ice melts. For more info visit www.chaskaherald.com.
